Otaku Expo 2023... Where's the Singing Contest?

Otaku Expo 2023, this weekend na!!!

Kaso ang contest pa lang na in-announce nila ay ang Battle of the Band. Asan ang sa Cosplay? Asan din yung sa Singing Contest? 

Although sinabi nila sa post nila about sa Battle of the Band na may Singing Contest pero...

Asan ang rules? Wala pa silang pino-post! ANONG PETSA NA?

Anyway, himayin ang mga rules nila nung Anime Fair... and my highlighted comments will serve as an unsolicited advice for them kung gagawa sila ng rules for their event.

Also, kung mag-aannounce sila ng event, agahan din nila pag-aanounce ng mga contest nila.

* Registration will be at the Information Booth on both days at 11:00am onwards until all slots are taken.  

- balita ko ay mga before 11am ay ubos na ang slots. 

* Guest Performers & event staff are not allowed to join.

- talaga ba? Buti naman at inalis niyo na yung bawal sumali ang mga exhibitors kasi may sumasali po dyang exhibitor, tas both days pa! Buti inalis niyo na din yung isang araw lang pwedeng sumali.

* Only Fifteen (15) contestants will be able to register each day. Song choices are on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis; there will be NO repeating of songs. Upon registration, the contestant’s song title must be listed and succeeding registrants CANNOT pick a song that has already been listed. 

- dapat ginawa niyo nang 20 contestants, no more no less. Please lang, may mga dumodoble ng songs at nakakasawa ding pakinggan kapag inulit-ulit.

1. Contestants are encouraged to prepare and memorize at least two (2) songs (their first choice and a back-up, in case their first choice has already been listed by another contestant). Take note pre-registered contestants will get priority to choose their songs first. 

*** They may bring a lyrics sheet if they feel it would help lessen their nervousness. HOWEVER, judges will be deducting points whenever a contestant visibly looks at their copy.  

- dapat i-BOLD and CAPITALIZED yung PREPARE AND MEMORIZE. Alisin niyo na rin yung sentence na naka-strikethrough, akala tuloy ni Condescending girl may pre-registration. Belat, naubusan siya ng slot.

- dapat pag may dalang lyrics, matik 50% overall deduction na sa score. Tas kapag hindi umabot sa 75% yung pinakamataas na score among all contestants, walang winner. 

2. Instrumentals / back tracks (“minus one”) should STRICTLY be in MP3 FORMAT; no iTunes formats. Files MUST be submitted via a USB flash drive upon registration, which can be reclaimed at the registration booth after the contest. Contest will start at 1:30pm so please submit the files at least an hour before to avoid delays. 

- share ko lang pero sa ibang contest na napanoodan ko, may isang contestant naman na kung kelang siya na kakanta ehh dun pa lang magpapasa ng minus one niya. Ang matindi, dispalinghado pa yung file kaya nag cause siya ng delay sa program.

3. If a contestant fails to present a backing track, they may approach the tech booth to inquire for available instrumental versions of the song they wish to perform. Otherwise, they must choose to perform a different song, as long as it has not been chosen yet. 

- siguraduhing kapag magpapasa ng backing track, full size po ang ipapasa. may mga nagpapasa kasi ng TV size. Kapag TV size ang pinasa, TV size din ang score: kalahati.

4. Songs can be from any Anime series or movie. Theme songs from Live Action drama series, J-pop, and Vocaloid-related songs are not allowed.  

- talaga ba? Ba't may kumakanta ng "Enemy", "Baka Mitai", at theme song ng "Sharivan"? Tell me kung galing sa anime yun. Technically, yung "Enemy" is from a non-Japanese series. Baka Mitai is galing sa game na Yakuza 0, and yung "Sharivan" ay galing sa tokusatsu series (Tokusatsu/Metal Hero/Kamen Rider/Super Sentai are also under sa Live Action drama).

5. Contestants are encouraged to choose songs from well-known artists and/or series for better audience participation and impact. 

Contestants will only be allowed to join per day. Joining for 2 days straight will not be allowed. 

- Really? May napanood akong contestant nung Tanabata event, sumali both days tapos exhibitor pa! Lakompake kung sino mga kakilala nila, that person is bending and breaking your rules!

REMINDERS: 

-Keep your masks on.

- since ang venue niyo ay sa SMX Mall of Asia, which is under the jurisdiction of Pasay City, naghihigpit sila sa paggamit ng facemask. Kaya paalalahanan niyo ang mga contestant na wag magtatanggal ng mask habang kumakanta, or they will face heavy consequences like disqualification.

- Bring hand sanitizers or ethyl alcohol. There will also be alcohol near the stage and other areas of the event.
